10 Things + $100 Billion Vaca

Summer travel, failure budgets, making more money, benefits of hiking.

This summer, Americans are expected to spend over $100 billion on vacations. To put that into perspective, that's more than the GDP of countries like Slovakia, Ecuador, and Sri Lanka. It's nearly twice the market capitalization of Starbucks, and it's roughly the cost of the entire Apollo space program (adjusted for inflation). It's also about the combined value of the top 10 most valuable sports teams in the world and could cover four years of tuition for over 2 million students at an average public university in the U.S. This checks out as I spent nearly a hundred bucks just grabbing snacks and sports drinks from the connivence store near the beach.
