Do More By Doing Less
Cinematic surfing lessons are inspiring change in your life today

You’re doing too much.
One of my favorite parts of the cinematic comedy classic “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” (besides the epic vampire puppet playlet, and a near overdose of Russell Brand being himself), is when Koodu (Hawaiian for “Chuck”) played by the perma-funny Paul Rudd says two simple words to Jason Segal’s character who is trying to learn how to surf:
“Do less”.
Complexity Bias is a trap we all tend to fall in one time or another. The short version is that complicated must be better than simple. Right?
Not always.
Sometimes complexity is a form of procrastination, which is another way of saying complexity can be rooted in fear.
So where can you do less?
Is it time to launch that side hustle? Get one customer. Just one. Then it’s launched. No brand, no website, no sales pitch, just transact some cold hard cash and you’re in business. The rest will come.
Are you at a fork in the road of life and not sure which to take? Go with your gut. No, seriously… your sub conscience probably already knows the answer. Listen to it.
Tricking up your stock portfolio with short holdings? Do less. There are lots of smart wealthy people trying to beat you at that game (often with -ahem- “extra intel”)– just index fund it and carry on. Unless you like doing it that much, then call it what it is: a hobby.
Ask yourself if you’ve made a part of your life too complex, and then do less.
